Backstabbers is my first novel, a 1979-based comedy murder-mystery about aspirations for fame and dreams unfulfilled.
The Hospital was a new experience for Stu. He had thankfully lived a life free of illness and injury. He visited Jeffrey once when they were both much younger. Something about Jeffrey crashing his bike head-first into a brick wall and landing groin-first on the bike frame.
The place still smelled the same: Watery vegetable soup. Justin Hayward’s Forever Autumn played on a loop in his mind, having listened to it heavily the night before to process his upset feelings. Stu followed Gary past doorways and curtains of patients living their own dramas.
